A short edit of MJP’s Vision for the University of Warwick Campus is now available to view on Vimeo. The film describes the masterplan vision and plans for long-term development. The film was shown at MIPIM 2013 earlier this month and is featured at the AUDE Conference this week.
Communicating the Estate Vision
Explaining the masterplan is an important part of the masterplanning process, to engage stakeholders inside and outside the university and win their support, and to build links with the community.
Communicating a vision for a campus masterplan is more difficult than explaining proposals for a new building. The proposals are wide-ranging and long-term and it is difficult to explain what is fixed and what is flexible.
…conveying the vision is crucial to win funding…
The benefits of a high-quality public realm, better way-finding and improved public presence are more subtle than additional floor space or new equipment. However conveying the vision is crucial to win funding for landscape and infrastructure projects, especially when these are in competition with core projects. The base model is also used to test proposals for new projects and explain them to potential funders.
