Friendship House images added to Ribapix

The RIBA have just added images of MJP Architects’ Friendship House to RIBAPix – their online database of over 50,000 images from the collections of the RIBA British Architectural Library.

Other images of MJP’s Friendship House are available to view on the website of photographer Peter Durant

MJP designed the 180 bed Friendship House in Southwark for the LHA London. To make the most of the space offered by the restricted site, the accommodation was arranged in a spiral fitting tightly to the site’s boundaries.

The rooms are arranged around a central courtyard containing a pool and fountain which reflect light and produce a gentle white noise that camouflages the noise of the nearby railway and streets. Cutting across this space is a green slate walkway which connects the main ground floor common rooms back to the reception area. Kitchens, serving as subsidiary common rooms, are located in the corners of the courtyard.

Aswell as the recent addition of the Friendship House images, there are images of several other MJP projects available to view and order on RIBAPix – these are :

Southwark Station, Jubilee Line Extension
Wellcome Wing at the Science Museum
