Mathew joined MJP in June 2014 after completing his MA Architecture degree at the University of Westminster and completed his professional exams in 2016. He has worked on the number of student accommodation projects for both universities and private developers. He is the practice’s BIM coordinator.
Mathew is the Project Architect on a 952 student bedroom accommodation scheme for the University of Surrey. The project was submitted for planning in 2015. The first phase was completed in July 2018 with the second currently on site and scheduled for completion in August 2019.
Mathew was involved in Stages 1-3 of the design of a residential tower for Alumno – a private developer of student housing. This 26 storey tall building, located on Stratford High Street in East London, is on a very constrained inner city site. It comprises over 450 student rooms as well as artists studios. It uses prefabricated building elements extensively and is designed to achieve a 40% reduction in carbon emissions against the building regulations.
Mathew assisted the Monitoring Architect for the University of Roehampton including site inspections and review of Contractor drawings to review compliance with Employers Requirements. He has also worked on a range of projects, from the Sports Pavilion for the University of Birmingham to competition entries for academic and residential buildings.
