Facade works have started on Alumno Developments’ 27 storey student residential building next to the Olympic Legacy site in London.
We have managed to develop a panellisation system which achieves efficiencies in both construction and transportation
Constructing a tall building on a constrained site raises many logistical issues, but the unitised cladding system enables us to fulfil all the architectural aspirations while achieving the perennial goals of speed, durability and efficiency.
Fabricated by Staticus in Lithuania, the system facilitates rapid construction with a high level of quality control and minimal site assembly time.
Facade chasing after the floors… floors chasing after the core… all the way to level 27!
There are just two principal materials, both chosen for durability; anodised aluminium windows and reveals, and terracotta panels with an engobe finish, similar to engineering bricks.
We have managed to develop a panellisation system which achieves efficiencies in both construction and transportation; storey high units with joint lines lost in the architectural detailing.
